Josh Brolin has reeled in his second Marvel character role. Already playing Thanos in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Brolin will not play Cable, the antagonist in Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool 2, according to a report by HollywoodReporter.com’s Borys Kit.

Per Kit, Brolin was a surprise contender for the role with the likes of Michael ShannonDavid HarbourRussell Crowe and Brad Pitt supposedly in the mix.

Included in Deadpool 2 will be other Marvel characters who help occupy the niche with the titular character. Per Kit, Zazie Beetz is set to play Domino, a member of the mutant-laden group X-Force.

Deadpool 2 is set to begin production in Vancouver this summer, but Brolin will first reprise his role as Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War. That is slated for a May 4, 2018 release date.

In the meantime, Deadpool is still set for a release sometime in 2018. Deadpool, released in 2016, grossed over $783 million worldwide.
