There has been a disturbance in the Force. The final trailer for the upcoming Star Wars film, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story was released today.

The new trailer features a bunch of new footage, giving us a plethora of details about the plot and Felicity Jones‘ new protagonist, Jyn Erso.

Mads Mikkelsen features prominently in this trailer as Erso’s father. He is described as being integral to the development of the Empire’s new super weapon, the yet-to-be-named Death Star.

Ben Mendelsohn flaps his fancy white cloak and discusses the notion of power, sounding an awful lot like a certain grand moff who had some experience working with the Death Star. Alas, he is only Director Orson Krennick.

The crew is all together here, as the entire Rogue One squad is shown fighting stormtroopers, storming beaches, ducking behind cover, laughing, crying and delivering rousing speeches on the importance of hope.

Finally, the big bad himself struts into full view, emerging from the mist in a room that looks an awful lot like the carbonite chamber back on Bespin. Darth Vader, in all his robotic glory, makes his presence felt for the first time on film in over a decade.

The new trailer looks great, showing off each of the characters we’ll be following when the film hits theaters on Dec. 16. It serves as the first bit of emotional attachment, as we get a peek at the relationship between Erso and her father.

A prequel novel, Catalyst: A Rogue One Novel, will release a month before the film on Nov. 15.
