The Orlando Pride waived one of its first signees.
On Thursday, the team announced that it had waived forward Sarah Hagen, one of the Pride’s first three signees entering their inaugural National Women’s Soccer League season last year.
“Making a move like this is never easy, and it was an incredibly difficult decision to part ways with Sarah,” Pride head coach Tom Sermanni said, per the team’s press release. “Sarah has been a consummate professional both on and off the field. We thank her for her commitment to the Pride and wish her the best of luck in her future, hopefully in the NWSL.”
In 2016, Hagen made eight starts in 17 appearances, recording two goals and two assists in 587 minutes of play. She was acquired by the Pride via trade with FC Kansas City on Oct. 15, 2015.
The Pride conclude their preseason with a friendly against the United States U-23 women’s national team on Friday at 2 p.m.
