Marvel has a strong cinematic and television presence, but not since Activision’s Spider-Man 2 game has the comic-book company had a video game to rave about. Lego Marvel Super Heroes and Lego Marvel’s Avengers have been received well by fans, but, for the most part, DC Comics has controlled this realm (probably because DC doesn’t make video games based off movies).

But that could all change soon, as Square Enix and Marvel have announced a multi-game partnership that will begin with what has been dubbed “The Avengers Project.”

In the accompanying 51-second teaser, it is subtly announced that Crystal Dynamics and Eidos Montreal will be working on the project as well. Recently, Crystal Dynamics has been focusing on making Tomb Raider games. Since 2006, the California-based developers have made eight Tomb Raider games. While Eidos Montreal has also spent time on Tomb Raider products, its main focus has been the Deux Ex games.

The first teaser seems to suggest that, like its cinematic and television counterparts, the focus will center around some of the team’s most popular members. From the Hulk to Captain America, Thor and Iron Man, Marvel’s mainstays appear to be leading the way.

According to a report by Polygon.com’s Allegra Frank, Square Enix will announce more information in 2018.

Until then, fans will have to hold themselves over with a flurry of Marvel Cinematic Universe movies coming out in 2017. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 comes out on May 5, Spider-Man: Homecoming is set to release on July 7, and Thor: Ragnarok is slated for release on Nov. 3.
