Sophomore Alea White (11-5) earned her fourth-straight victory, as the UCF Knights defeated the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (8-13) 3-1. This was the first game of a double-header for the Knights (13-8) at the University of South Florida Under Armour Invitational in Clearwater on Friday.
White pitched all 7.0 innings for the Knights, allowing four hits and a walk. She also struck out six batters, continuing her recent stellar play.
The Mocs used two pitchers: starter Celie Hudson (3-8) and freshman Paige Peterson. Hudson pitched 5.0 innings, giving up six hits and three runs. Peterson only pitched 1.0 inning, allowing one hit with two groundouts and a flyout. The Mocs’ lone strikeout came from Hudson in the bottom of the first.
UTC scored its only run early in the game. With two outs, sophomore Aly Walker scored off an error by Knights right fielder Denali Schappacher after senior Ashley Conner hit a single.
Junior Cassady Brewer started the scoring for UCF in the second inning with her first at-bat, hitting a lead-off home run to right field to tie the game at 1-1.
In the fourth inning, the Knights found a way to score two more runs with two outs. Pinch runner Kendyl Lange scored the first of the two runs, running home after sophomore Kyra Klarkowski singled up the middle.
UCF’s second score of the fourth came when UTC shortstop Brook Womack committed a fielding error, allowing Klarkowski to score from second base.

The Knights face Saint Joseph’s University at 6:30 p.m. for the second game of their double-header at the USF Under Armour Invitational in Clearwater.
