Orlando City SC’s back line welcomes a new member with the addition of Amro Tarek on a one-year loan from Egyptian Premier League side Wadi Degla FC.

With a club option to buy, pending receipt of his ITC, Tarek will be the newest Lion in the pack.

“We are pleased to welcome Amro on loan. He’s an athletic, left-footed center back who will add competition to our defensive group,” City general manager Niki Budalic said, per the release. “His familiarity with MLS and hunger to succeed will allow him to transition well into Orlando.”

Tarek began his career in the 2010-2011 season with 1. FC Magdeburg II in Germany before moving to SC Freiburg II and then to VfL Wolfsburg II. The 25-year-old then played two seasons for Egyptian Premier League side El-Gouna FC from 2013 to 2015, making 47 appearances.

The lefty joins Orlando City from Wadi Degla, making 11 appearances in the Egyptian Premier League in the 2017-2018 season. Tarek also made 25 appearances across all competitions in the 2016-2017 season for Enppi Club in Egypt.

In addition to playing overseas, Tarek made one Major League Soccer appearance with Columbus Crew SC in the 2016 season while on loan from La Liga side Real Betis in Spain.

Tarek was born in Los Angeles, California, but moved to Egypt as as child. The center back now plays for Egypt internationally and made his senior international debut on Mar. 28, 2017.
