One of the University of Central Florida’s all-time greatest three-point shooters is staying in Florida for the next step of his career. Shooting guard Matt Williams will play for the Miami Heat’s summer-league team this summer, according to a press release by the team. Williams finished his UCF career as the all-time leader in career threes made.

The Jones High School alumnus finished his senior season with a career-high 15.1 points per game. His previous career-high was 8.1 points per game in the 2015-16 season. Williams also shot 38.4 percent from deep last season, finishing as the NCAA’s runner-up in most threes made in the 2016-17 season with 126.

Williams’ effort helped lead the Knights to a fourth-place finish in the American Athletic Conference and to the 2017 National Invitation Tournament semifinals in New York City’s Madison Square Garden. The team ultimately fell to Texas Christian University 68-53 in a final-four matchup.

Miami and Williams will first play in the Orlando Summer League at the Amway Center from July 1 to July 6. Afterward, the Heat will travel to Las Vegas and play from July 7 to July 17 at Cox Pavilion and the Thomas and Mack Center, per UCF Athletics.

The Heat selected the University of Kentucky center Bam Adebayo with the 14th-overall pick and their lone pick of the draft. In addition to Williams, Miami has also added London Perrantes (University of Virginia), Jamel Artis (University of Pittsburgh), Zak Irvin (University of Michigan), Derek Willis (Kentucky) and Justin Robinson (Monmouth University).
