I was actually at home in England, and I was trying to get the stream up online, and I was having problems with my Internet. And then next thing I know, I look down at my phone, and my phone’s blowing up with notifications. It’s a great surprise.
When asked about coming to play in Orlando, Deakin said he was familiar with the organization.
Obviously I knew about Orlando. It’s a great organization. Great group of guys, and, yeah, I mean, it’s a great place to be obviously. Florida, nice weather, so, yeah, I mean, I was very happy when it was Orlando.
When asked about the difference in play between college and Major League Soccer, Deakin said he noticed it in the speed.
I knew it was going to be a lot better than college. The speed of play is very high. Everyone’s very consistent on the ball. But, yeah, I mean, I’m enjoying it. I think I’ve adapted pretty well to it. Like I say, it’s good. And I’m enjoying my time here.
I know that they watched a lot of tape on me. And I think they’ve come to a few of our games. They liked what they saw in my passing, stuff like that, and my attacking abilities. So, yeah, I mean, haven’t talked to [head coach Jason Kreis] that much, but, yeah, I’ve just been out here trying to impress and do my thing, and hopefully they like what they see.
