In honor of N7 Day, BioWare has released a new trailer for the next installation in the Mass Effect series, Mass Effect: Andromeda. The father of the playable character Ryder opens the trailer with narration, saying:
“We slept for hundreds of years, dreaming of a new home. But when we finally awoke, our dreams of peace were shattered.”
If his voice sounds familiar, that’s because Alec Ryder is voiced by Clancy Brown, the voice actor of Mr. Krabs from Spongebob Squarepants, according to a report by GameInformer.com’s Joe Juba.
Per Juba’s report, Scott Ryder is voiced by Tom Taylorson, and Sarah Ryder is voiced by Fryda Wolff.
Andromeda takes place in the Andromeda Galaxy (naturally) after the events of the first three Mass Effect games. On Nov. 1, BioWare released a teaser that invited players to join the Andromeda Initiative.
Here’s how Amazon’s pre-order page summarizes the next installation of Mass Effect:
Mass Effect: Andromeda takes players to the Andromeda Galaxy, far beyond the Milky Way. There, players will lead our fight for a new home in hostile territory as the Pathfinder, a leader of military-trained explorers. This is the story of humanity’s next chapter, and player choices throughout the game will ultimately determine our survival.
While the newest trailer notes the game is slated to be released in spring 2017, EA chief financial officer Blake Jorgensen said on Nov. 1 that the company would delay the game if he felt it necessary, according to a report by GameSpot.com’s Eddie Makuch.
“Right now, Mass Effect is tracking extremely well,” Jorgensen said. “The game looks beautiful. And we’re really pleased with its progress. However, as you’ve seen, we are willing to make moves in launch dates if we feel it’s necessary to deliver the right player experience.”
Per Makuch’s report, the delay could be anywhere from one week to five months.
