At the University of Central Florida’s request, the University of Texas Longhorns have rescheduled their upcoming matchup between the two schools in Texas from Sept. 9, 2017 to Sept. 9, 2023.
The Knights will face the University of Maine on Sept. 30 instead, while the Longhorns will play San Jose State in 2017, per a press release.
UCF and Texas have only met two times. In 2007 in the first game in Bright House Networks Stadium, the Longhorns defeated the Knights 35-32. In 2009, the Knights fell 35-3 in Austin.
According to Shannon Green of the Orlando Sentinel, it’s undetermined if UCF will have a bye week during Week 2 of the 2017 season, leaving the possibility open for an American Athletic Conference game for the weekend of Sept. 9. The University of Connecticut and the University of Memphis are two potential candidates.
Currently, the Knights will open their 2017 season with three of their first four nonconference opponents coming to Orlando (Florida International University on Sept. 2, Georgia Tech University on Sept. 16 and Maine on Sept. 30). Their only road trip will be the closing game of a home-and-home series at the University of Maryland on Sept. 23.
UCF is also in the midst of finalizing its remaining six nonconference slots through 2019.
