Bryan Cranston, star of the now-completed show Breaking Bad, gave some teasing details on his character in a spring 2017 Power Rangers movie. Cranston will be playing the floating head himself, Zordon.
This isn’t Cranston’s first stint with the crime-fighting martial artists; in fact, he voiced villains Tinman and Snizard in two 1993 episodes, according to a report by Entertainment Weekly’s Joey Nolfi.
Cranston said that there’s a lot of motion capture and CGI work. Per Nolfi’s report, the 60-year-old elaborated on his character’s story.
The tenant of that storyline is that this is a real person who is trapped in this etherworld, and it comes this in-the-wall so to speak of this lair. He still has a heart and mind but an agenda that he’s got to get these five Power Rangers to defend the earth or else everyone they know will be killed.
Elizabeth Banks will join Cranston in a supporting role as Rita Repulsa. The Power Rangers reboot is directed by Dean Israelite and will star Rebbeca Gomez (A.K.A., Becky G), Dacre Montgomery, Ludi Lin, RJ Cyler and Naomi Scott.
The release date is slated for March 24, 2017.
