About a week after the UCF Knights announced their second addition to the incoming 2018-19 class, another transfer was confirmed to join the Knights.

This time, guard/forward Ibrahim Famouke Doumbia joins the Knights from the University of South Carolina, the Knights announced Tuesday afternoon.

“Ibrahim will bring a lot of energy to the program,” Knights head coach Johnny Dawkins said, per the press release. “He’s a very explosive player. His ability to finish around the basket and run the floor will be key.”

Doumbia joins the Knights after appearing in 12 games off the bench for the Gamecocks last season. However, he wasn’t a pivotal part of the team, averaging only 3.6 minutes per game.

He will join the Knights before the start of next season but will have to sit for the year because of NCAA transfer rules. After the 2018-19 season, Doumbia will have three years of eligibility left with the Knights.

Before going to college, Doumbia was a four-star recruit out of Miami Country Day School. There, he averaged 27 points per game, 19 rebounds per game and four blocks per game in his final high-school season.

Additionally, Doumbia has also represented his home country Mali in the 2016 FIBA Africa U-18 Championships.

“He has as much potential as any player we’ve recruited here, and he’ll continue to develop on and off the court this season,” Dawkins said. “We’re excited for Ibrahim to join our UCFamily.”

In addition to Doumbia, the Knights have also signed junior-college transfer Frank Bertz from East Los Angeles College and incoming freshman Dre Fuller.
