Star Wars Celebration is happening, and what better way to celebrate Star Wars than with a trailer for the latest film?
Mark Hamill’s Luke Skywalker is perhaps shown more in this two-minute trailer than he was in Episode VII. And Skywalker figures to play a prominent role, too. As expected, Rey (Daisy Ridley) is training with Skywalker where she found him at the end of The Force Awakens, as introduced by a similar jump introduction that was used in a The Force Awakens trailer.
While there’s plenty of bits of scenes to analyze in the heart of the trailer, the end is where the biggest question is asked: What does Skywalker’s message mean? In the final seconds of this first trailer, Skywalker stands at the entrance of a cave, silhouetted, and says, “It’s time for the Jedi to end.”
John Boyega reprises his role as Finn. Adam Driver returns as Kylo Ren, and Oscar Isaac will play Poe Dameron again. The Last Jedi is slated for a Dec. 15, 2017 release date.
