Ryan Reynolds returns as the iconic “Merc with a Mouth.”

A new teaser for the Deadpool sequel debuted in the trailers before Logan. As per usual with Deadpool material, fourth walls were broken and crude, no-holds-barred jokes were made.

The teaser opens with a hooded figure walking down a deserted and grimy alleyway. The figure pulls a pair of earbuds out and drops the hood to reveal the unmasked and horribly disfigured face of Wade Wilson.

Suddenly, a mugging breaks out involving an elderly gentleman and the thug trying to rob him. Deadpool, never afraid of danger, springs into action by running into the nearest phone booth to change into his super suit.

Unfortunately for the older gentleman, changing clothes in a confined space isn’t easy to do, and Deadpool takes just a little too long getting ready. After a brief call to his costumer, a gunshot rings out, and Deadpool rushes back out into the alley accompanied by dramatic music. A Stan Lee cameo interrupts him briefly before he makes his way back to the scene of the crime.

Alas, he arrives too late, and the old man is dead. But Wade takes it all in stride, reposing on the ground with the corpse as a pillow. The teaser concludes with a long block of small text that essentially amounts to a Deadpool’s synopsis of Ernest Hemmingway’s The Old Man and the Sea.

Deadpool 2 is slated for a March 2, 2018 release date.
