Aquaman, starring Jason Momoa, has begun production and is set to release sometime in 2018.

In the mean time, director James Wan and his crew have been adding to their list of cast members. Currently, characters like Black Manta, Mera, Orm and Nuidis Vulko are confirmed to appear alongside Momoa’s Arthur Curry, according to the film’s IMDB page.

One character that Wan says won’t appear in Momoa’s first standalone film in the DC Comics Cinematic Universe is Aqualad, according to a report by ComicBook.com’s Charlie Ridgely. The name applies to two different characters in DC Comics: the original Aqualad (Garth) and the second iteration (Kaldur’ahm/Jackson Hyde).

Here was Wan’s response to a fan who asked if he was “looking for an Aqualad.”

With many fans unsatisfied, Wan gave a simple yet effective response.

Before Momoa stars in Aquaman, he will first make an appearance in Justice League. That film is directed by Zack Snyder and is set to release on Nov. 17, 2017.
