The Orlando Pride have added defender Carrie Lawrence to their roster as a supplemental player, the team announced Jan. 10. Lawrence was a training player for the Pride during the 2018 season.
“We are thrilled to have Carrie join our roster, as she is someone we would have liked to sign last year but were unable to,” Pride General Manager Erik Ustruck said, per the release. “She trained hard with us every day and was a clear representative of the culture we are building at the club.
“We are very happy to reward her with this contract and excited about the depth she brings to our back line.”
Lawrence graduated from the neighboring University of Central Florida. In three seasons, the 22-year-old made 49 appearances, notching four goals and 11 assists. Before joining the Knights, Lawrence played for the University of South Carolina, tallying two goals and an assist in 20 games.

As the Pride add Lawrence to their roster, they also waive forward Danica Evans. After three seasons with the Pride, the 24-year-old will move on to pursue a playing opportunity in Europe. Evans recorded two goals and an assist, including the Pride’s first-ever goal in then-Orlando City Stadium, an 87th-minute equalizer in a season-opening draw with Portland Thorns FC. She was drafted 22nd-overall in 2017.
“On behalf of the entire organization, I’d like to thank Danica for her three years with the club,” Utstruck said. “We wish her the best of luck in the next chapter of her career.”
