Amid a season of on-the-court success, the UCF Knights have announced some off-the-court success.

On Jan. 17, UCF announced the signing of center Yuat Alok, a 2016 five-star recruit. Alok, an Auckland, New Zealand, native, joins UCF after playing 10 games at Texas Christian University.

“We’re excited to bring in a player of Yuat’s caliber,” UCF Head Coach Johnny Dawkins said, per the release. “He brings plenty of size and skill, and [he] will be a welcome addition to our front court. We can’t wait to get him integrated into our UCF family.”

In his 10 non-start appearances for the Horned Frogs, Alok recorded 3.3 points per game and 2.5 rebounds per game in just over 13 minutes per game. He was sidelined with a hand injury that “would have sidelined him the entire 2018-19 season,” according to UCF’s release.

Before coming to the United States, Alok was born in Kenya and then moved to New Zealand. He, then, moved to the U.S. at 17 years old and played at Impact Academy in Sarasota. Alok earned five-star status after just his senior year of play and later played for the New Zealand U-19 men’s national team.

After high school and a brief youth national-team experience, Alok played two seasons at Chipola Community College. There, he tallied 12.3 points per game and 7.0 rebounds per game while shooting 55.1 percent from the field and 81.6 percent from the free-throw line.
