Lions to Open Preseason with Inaugural Orlando City Invitational

In total, Orlando City SC will face six teams this preseason, including one United Soccer League side.

Orlando City SC has its plans established for preseason competitions. On Jan. 15, the Lions announced the inaugural Orlando City Invitational, among other preseason friendlies. City will host New York City FC, Minnesota United FC and the New England Revolution in a two-day, double-header event.

Below is the 2019 Orlando City Invitational schedule:

Feb. 16 at Orlando City Stadium

  • New England vs. Minnesota, 4:30 p.m.
  • Orlando City vs. New York City, 7:30 p.m.

Feb. 20 at Orlando City Stadium

  • New York City vs. Minnesota, 4:30 p.m.
  • Orlando City vs. New England, 7:30 p.m.

Additionally, the Lions will host four more preseason matches. After all clubs start preseason on Monday, the Lions will host their first preseason opponent, the New York Red Bulls, on Feb. 2.

Below is the full preseason-competition schedule:

Feb. 2 at IMG Academy

  • Orlando City vs. New York, 10:30 a.m.

Feb. 6 at Orlando City Stadium

  • Orlando City vs. Louisville City FC, 4 p.m.

Feb. 12 at Omni ChampionsGate

  • Orlando City vs. Philadelphia Union, 12 p.m.

Feb. 16/Feb. 20 at Orlando City Stadium

  • 2019 Orlando City Invitational

Feb. 23 at Orlando City Stadium

  • Orlando City vs. Minnesota, 12 p.m.

The Lions will open their season against NYCFC in Orlando City Stadium on March 2 at 2:30 p.m. Ahead of that, Orlando City will spend their first week of preseason in Bradenton.
