Orlando City SC added winning experience ahead of the 2019 season with its latest acquisitions.

On Dec. 19, the Lions announced the signings of goalkeeper Greg Ranjitsingh and defender Kyle Smith. Both players join the Lions after winning back-to-back titles in 2017 and 2018 with Louisville City FC. Ranjitsingh and Smith also reunite with Lions Head 2019 MLSaCoach James O’Connor, who led Louisville from 2015 to June 2018.

Ranjitsingh has built an impressive résumé since starting his stint with Louisville in 2015. He has played in 81 regular-season matches, recording shutouts in 33 of them. Additionally, the Pickering, Canada, native started 11 playoff matches for Louisville City. The 25-year-old posted clean sheets in both the 2017 and 2018 title matches.

At the international level, Ranjitsingh received a call-up to the Trinidad and Tobago men’s national team for 2018 World Cup qualification matches in August 2016.

As for Smith, he played in 95 matches for Louisville. In his rookie season, the 26-year-old played the most minutes of any Louisville player (2,300). The American continues to improve his stamina, as he played 2,819 minutes while scoring four goals in 2017 and recorded 3,253 minutes and four goals in 2018.

A rebuild of sorts for Orlando City appears to be underway, as the Lions have, so far, also amassed six draft picks for the upcoming 2019 Major League Soccer SuperDraft. Orlando City finished 11th in the Eastern Conference in 2018 with the second-fewest points (28).
