Fourth Quarter NDR Notes

  • Zakiya Saunders scored 12 of the Knights’ 13 points in the fourth quarter, shooting 5-for-8 from the field, including 2-for-3 from 3-point range. She finished with a game-high 23 points.
  • UCF held SMU’s leading scorer, McKenzie Adams, to 0 points in the fourth quarter. Adams led all scorers with 14 points entering the final period.
  • Nyala Shuler recorded a game-high 17 rebounds in the game, grabbing 6 in the fourth quarter.

Third Quarter NDR Notes

  • UCF opened its biggest lead of the game, a 14-point difference, entering the fourth quarter.
  • SMU was held to 30 percent shooting (3-for-10), as UCF shot 41.2 percent (7-for-17), its best shooting quarter of the game.
  • McKenzie Adams led the game in points after three quarters, as she finished three quarters with 14 points for the Mustangs.
  • UCF guards Korneila Wright and Zakiya Saunders each finished the first three quarters with 11 points each on a combined 9-for-26 shooting.
  • The Knights took just one 3 in the third quarter, missing it.

Second Quarter NDR Notes

  • It was a defensive duel in the second quarter, as both teams worsened their shooting from the opening period: UCF shot 30.8 percent (4-for-13), including an unusual 0-for-4 from 3, and SMU only hit 25 percent (4-for-16) of its shots.
  • Knights guard Zakiya Saunders ended the second as the game’s leading scorer with 9 points on 4-for-9 shooting. She had 5 points on 2-for-4 shooting in the first quarter.
  • UCF’s deficit shrunk by a point by halftime, as the Knights led by six entering the locker room.

First Quarter NDR Notes

  • Despite holding the first-quarter lead, UCF shot just 38.9 percent from the field; however, the Knights took nine more shots than SMU, going 7-for-18 from the field.

  • Knights guard Korneila Wright tied with SMU’s McKenzie Adams for the game-high in points (6).
  • Freshman Masseny Kaba, who led the Knights in scoring in a 59-51 win over the Tulane Green Wave on Jan. 17, had 3 points and went 1-for-4 from the free-throw line to start the game.
