Orlando City SC is solidifying its midfield with another offseason addition. According to a team press release Monday morning, the Lions have signed Josué Colmán to a five-year contract as a young designated player, including club options, pending his ITC and P-1 Visa. Colmán will occupy an international spot.

“We are pleased to welcome such an exciting young prospect to our roster,” City general manager Niki Budalic said, per the release. “Josué has great pace and can create chances for himself and others. His skill set and profile give us confidence he will be a great fit in Orlando and MLS for years to come.”

Colmán last played for Club Cerro Porteño of Paraguay’s Primera División. There, in 2017, he started 28 of his 32 appearances, scoring a goal. The 19-year-old helped his side to a Torneo Clausura championship. In 2016, Colmán scored 3 goals while starting 15 of his 16 matches. He also started five matches of Copa Sudamericana in 2016 and 2017 combined.

Internationally, Colmán has made 16 appearances for Paraguayan U-17 and U-20 national teams. He scored a goal in three matches during the 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup.

Colmán joins a host of new midfield additions for City. The Lions also acquired Jose Villarreal and Sacha Kljestan via trades with the Los Angeles Galaxy and the New York Red Bulls, respectively.
