ORLANDO, Fla. – The University of Central Florida is ranked No. 25 in both the Associated Press Top 25 and the USA TODAY Amway Coaches Poll.

This is the first time the Knights have been ranked since the 2013 season when they defeated Baylor University in the 2014 Tostitos Fiesta Bowl. That season, UCF finished the year ranked No. 10 in the AP Top 25 and No. 12 in the Coaches Poll.

While being ranked gives UCF more credibility, head coach Scott Frost doesn’t care if his team is ranked.

“I don’t really care where they rank us. I could (sic) care less,” Frost said after a 40-13 win over the University of Memphis on Sept. 30. “I told the team I want us to enjoy this win, and we’re flushing it. We’re pretending these first three games never happened ‘cause we’ve got eight games in front of us, an 8-game season in front of us. If these guys play like they did tonight, we can accomplish whatever we want to accomplish.”

When it comes to ranking, players like quarterback McKenzie Milton are in the same camp as Frost.

“I mean, we don’t have control over that,” Milton said after the win. “That’s [the voters]. So, whatever happens, happens. We just gotta take it one game at a time, and we can. Like Shaquem [Griffin] said, we can’t buy into the hype. We can’t get too high or too low. You’re only as good as your last game. So, we just gotta keep working.”

At 3-0, this is just the first time the Knights have won their first three games since the historic 2013 season. UCF has been impressive in its victories, winning by an average of 33 points. While the Knights do not have a win over a ranked opponent, its wins over the University of Maryland and Memphis came when both teams were receiving votes in the AP Top 25.

The Knights’ first game as a ranked team since 2013 will be at the University of Cincinnati on Saturday.
