Less than a week after being waived by Orlando City SC, midfielder Danny Deakin was reassured he would stay in Orlando.

On Wednesday, the club announced its United Soccer League affiliate, Orlando City B, signed the rookie midfielder to a USL contract. Deakin was on a season-long loan from City’s Major League Soccer side to OCB before being waived.

“We’re really happy Danny will be joining us full time,” OCB head coach Anthony Pulis said, per the press release. “Being with us will give him an opportunity to earn more playing time and continue his development.”

The Sheffield, England, native was selected by Orlando City in the third round of the 2017 MLS SuperDraft. He started in OCB’s season-opening loss to the Tampa Bay Rowdies.

Orlando City returns to action on Saturday when it travels to face New York City FC. OCB will conclude a three-game road trip on Sunday against Bethlehem Steel FC.
