Orlando City SC has lost a member of its 2017 preseason squad. On Thursday, the club announced that it had waived rookie midfielder Danny Deakin. The move opens an international-roster spot for the club’s Major League Soccer side.

Before his departure, the 23-year-old appeared in three Orlando City B matches, including one start, after being sent on a season-long loan with the United Soccer League side. His lone start came in OCB’s season-opener against the Tampa Bay Rowdies on March 25. He also made appearances in OCB’s matchups with Louisville City FC and Toronto FC II on March 30 and April 4 respectively.

The Sheffield, England, native had previously played two seasons with the University of South Carolina before being drafted by the Lions in the third round of the 2017 MLS SuperDraft. Deakin also saw time with Detroit City FC in the National Premier Soccer League.

Orlando City resumes action on Saturday when it hosts the Los Angeles Galaxy at 2:30 p.m.
