The Merc with a Mouth will begin filming his sequel in early 2017, according to a report by Collider.com’s Steve Weintraub. After racking in almost $778 million in box offices worldwide, Wade Wilson will be back to breaking more fourth walls and skulls.
In an interview with Weintraub, Deadpool and Deadpool 2 producer Simon Klinberg gave a little bit of insight into the production timeline. Here’s what he had to say:
- About Deadpool 2 development
The guys, [writers Paul] Wernick and [Rhett] Reese, are working on the script, and we hope to have a script very soon.
- About timeline for filming
Well, we hope to shoot the movie sometime in the beginning of next year.
- About filming location
Don’t know.
So, yeah… While we didn’t get a whole lot of information, we know that the writers from the 2016 blockbuster will return to give us a familiar tone in the upcoming sequel.
CinemaBlend.com’s Eric Eisenberg speculated in a piece in February what the sequel’s storyline could be. Eric Eisenberg suggested Wernick and Reese could team Deadpool up with some of his buddies in X-Force. First appearing in New Mutants issue No. 100, the more-aggressive version of the X-Men includes characters like Psylocke, Cable (the group’s original leader), Cyclops, Storm and Wolverine.
Well, until a new Deadpool film is released, we’ll just put this gif on loop.
